Our 50 Mile Ride events have been successful because of the groundswell of support from riders, their friends and family, and local OC bike shops. We’re counting on that same “grassroots spirit” to rise up again this year. You can get involved too! Rally your friends and family to help – we have lots of opportunities this year.

7 WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

1: Sign up to ride

2: Volunteer to help

ctc3This is a 100% volunteer-coordinated ride. To pull off this event we really need your help. If you or a friend are interested in volunteering BEFORE, DURING, or AFTER the ride, please CLICK HERE to learn about our volunteer opportunities. If you only have a few hours, we’ll take it!  Thanks in advance for helping to make this another world-class event!

3: Collect pledges

pledge pageYou can help us reach our fundraising goal this year. We made it easy to create your very own online PLEDGE PAGE .  Simply complete the fields at the bottom of the sample page – you can copy and paste our suggested text and photos too!  Invite your family, friends, and co-workers to sponsor you for every mile you complete.  We also have an email template available as an Outlook Template or Word Document you can use to send to your family and friends.

pledge page formNOTE:  When you create your page, you can name your web address whatever you want.  But if you keep “rwandaride15″ as part of your web address, be sure to change “-mypage” to your own name before saving your form (see sample form for example).

BONUS TIP: Get your employer, your favorite bike shop (or just about any company you have a relationship with) to match your pledges!

REWARD: Collect at least $250 in pledges and be eligible for a special prize drawing at our event!

4: Donate supplies or raffle prizes

oakley crowd50 Mile Ride for Project Rwanda is a fund raising event. Your generous contributions will be put to great use to help support Project Rwanda’s efforts. In addition to cash, product sponsorships appropriate for our event will also be welcomed. Here’s some examples of what we could use:

  • Water and/or sports drinks for riders
  • Energy bars, gels, trail snacks for riders
  • Raffle prize items (bike gear, apparel, gift certificates, sports/music tickets, vacation/travel vouchers, gift baskets, etc.)
  • First aid kits, 2 way radios, traffic cones or flags for support team

5: Donate to our Causes

Donations to Team Africa Rising are tax deductible, Federal Tax ID# 27-3113955.

Donations to World Bicycle Relief are tax deductible, Federal Tax ID# 20-5080679.

6: Buy original 50 Mile Ride merchandise (STORE OPENS SOON)

We’re excited to introduce a whole new look for this year’s event.  Earn style points on or off the bike when you sport our Official 9th Edition 50 Mile Ride Jersey and Bib Shorts. We’re offering a Race Jersey, high-performance Bib Shorts – and again this year:  a loose fit Tech Tee Jersey (perfect for the baggy MTB crowd).  You can order your gear when you REGISTER online, and we’ll have it ready for you in your rider bag when you check in.  Or, you can visit our TEAM STORE and go shopping today!
